People Keep Saying Sugar Is the Enemy of Losing Body Fat or Your Health.

But, your body turns everything you eat into glucose for energy, whether oats or chocolate biscuits.

Therefore, consuming any food in excess amounts, whether healthy or not, is bad and adds inches to your waist.

However, the problem with eating a high-sugar diet is the amount you consume can make a difference to your blood glucose levels and can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It may also cause high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia) and can be severe if not treated.

So, sugar is not the issue, but the amount you have is.

You can counteract the amount of sugar you consume by exercising. However, a high-sugar diet can overwhelm your body, causing blood sugar spikes, which can lead to problems like hunger and lethargy in the short run and heart attacks and strokes in the long run.

Also, unlike complex carbohydrates like oats, chocolate biscuits are easy for your body to absorb, increasing the chance of being stored as body fat while having little nutritional value.

To summarise, sugar itself is not a problem; it becomes a problem if you consume more than you need and don’t utilise its energy.
